The Process from Start to Finish
After you have registered your interest, we will contact you to arrange a convenient appointment for one of our energy assessors to visit you at your home to discuss what energy saving measures can be implemented into your home. A standard visit will consist of a surveyor checking you have the correct cavity structure for cavity wall insulation to be installed and adequate ventilation in the property. At the same time the surveyor will also inspect your loft insulation to see if your existing insulation needs topping up to meet UK guidelines (270mm deep).
Cavity Wall Insulation Explained
Cavity Wall Insulation comes in three varieties, depending on budget.
- Carbon Saver Bead - Technically the most advanced solution, it makes your home feel like new. Low cost, high quality and supremely energy efficient, this grey bonded-bead system offers the greatest efficiency for heat saving in a property. It has been proven to be almost 20% more effective than traditional fibre insualtion.
- White Bead - The most popular cavity wall insulation solution. Affordable but at the same time very effective, giving you an extra 10% efficiency over traditional fibre insulation.
- Mineral Fibre - This is the standard solution offered by around 90% of British cavity wall insulation suppliers and has been used by the building and construction industry for many years.
Loft Insulation Explained
Building regulations now require 270mm of insulation in lofts (11 inches). Inadequate loft insulation accounts for 25% of the heat loss from your home. With recent fuel prices increases and more forecast, that loss could cost you £80 - £125 per year. Loft insulation comes in two varieties.
- Traditional Rolls - are most commonly installed in lofts which don't have any restrictive access.
- Loose Lay (Blown) - is installed into lofts where access for the fitter is very limited. Loose Lay is pumped though a pipe into your loft and fills to the same depth of rolled insulation (270mm)
